Bring On The War Mice is book three of the epic serial adventure series The Go-Kids by Top 100 science fiction writer Ryan Schneider.

After surviving the worst attack on American soil in the nation’s history, only to be informed that his dad has been listed as Missing In Action, Parker is the victim of mistaken identity and kidnapping. He soon finds himself and his irrepressible friends in a Top Secret government facility confronted with technology the likes of which none of them has ever seen. But could it be a way for him to rescue his dad? Will Parker accept the mission? Will Sunny fall prey to Colby’s flirtations? Will Parker’s nightmares continue? Find out in Book Three of the ongoing serial adventure series, The Go-Kids.

Though it is a story about kids, it is far more than just a kids' story. It is a story involving young protagonists dealing with universal themes of growing up, friendship, and making the right moral choices.

Bring On the War Mice The GoKids Book 3 eBook Ryan Schneider

This the third chapter/installment of the Go-Kids series continues the story directly from the second (itself a direct continuation of the first). It seems this is a self-created serial for teens to inspire reading and maintain interest without being daunting to those who are put off by longer-form stories. A book of 110 pages just doesn't seem nearly so daunting as books of more than twice the length. I'm sure it also helps the author work on smaller parts of the story and get them out there to pique interest and create enthusiasm.

Well played, Mr. Schneider. Well played!

There be spoilers below. (Really, Goodreads, you need some kind of spoiler tag rather than an all or nothing approach.)

Parker, Sunny, Bubba, and Colby begin their training, getting tested and fitted for their KID suits (I might have skipped over what KID stands for), and finally being introduced to the battle suits. Bubba and Colby don't have a truce so much as an intermittently temporary postponement of hostilities.

In some ways, it's disconcerting that the kids aren't acting more heroic, more adult, but then I remember that they are just kids who are thrown into a situation they never asked for (regardless of how much Parker might have thought he wanted this). They are going to be scared; they are going to pick on each other; they are going to revert to being kids at the onset of pain regardless of how adult they act at other times or want to appear. Stiff upper lips can only carry one so far when one has developed no ability to maintain a stiff upper lip in the midst of adversity.

There is a deep sense of foreboding, mostly in the scenes without the kids in them. Few and far between though they might be, the sense is this is the last best hope for victory and any semblance of normalcy to be restored (though the new normal does present a great many niceties -- high-speed monorails, anybody?).

I look forward to getting back to this series at some point (alas, I've reached the end of the free books -- but nearly 400 pages in one series is good for a single go).

Bring On the War Mice The GoKids Book 3 eBook Ryan Schneider Reviews

It has taken a while for this series to feel like it has any depth. This is the first book that had meat to it. Keep reading!
My 11 year old says this was a GREAT book completely and utterly AWESOME! 5 stars easy! AWESOME AWESOME! Yes!
Ryan did it. I really enjoyed the third novel in the "Go-Kids" series. "Bring on the war Mice'. Great title, great characters, great entertaining, great actions, well written.
Ryan has done it again. Winning characters, good story and left me wanting more. I will never have a bowl of Strawberry Ice Cream again without thinking of this book. Good teaching without preaching for kids. Good quick read for an adult.
I have not read the others in this series, but the title, Bring on the War Mice, was a grabber for me. This is an entertaining book, well-written, with believable characters and lots of wonderful action. I think both older children AND adults could take away something enjoyable from its pages. --Sara Marie Hogg, author of Catho Darlington--Lessons Learned in the Space Age (and 6 others) writing as reviewer Phoebe Stogstill
